Overview

The Incubator has been established since 2016 with a support from INVIDIA company-USA to be a GPU Education Center at Yarmouk University for teaching mainly CUDA/C++ programming language in addition to many other computer programming languages.

Essentially, the incubator aims to provide training to Bachelor and Master students, engineers, and faculty members with beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels so that trainees would achieve better jobs and accomplish their scientific research which is impossible to be done even with the fastest CPU in the existence.

Yarmouk University becomes a GPU Education Center for the company in order to harness the power of the GPGPU (2800 processing cores) and accomplish many different research projects and training.

The incubator grants certifications approved by the company in addition to education materials and software programs. This grant would not be achieved without the faculty members’ efforts and the university administration.

There are a good number of research projects underway that use GPU-accelerated computing, such as the Biological Clock, Biochemical Reaction Networks, machine learning, 3D and 2D graphics problems of animation production, artistic works, and game development.

The center will offer researchers a dedicated lab with GPU technology, a website with access to tutorials and learning resources, and hands-on training including but not limited to invitational seminars.

Vision

NVIDIA has selected Yarmouk University as a GPU Education Center based on its commitment to train students, researchers and faculty on the use and importance of accelerated computing.We look forward to supporting YU’s faculty and next generation of engineers and researchers.

Trainees will solidify their knowledge in accelerated computing and its applications especially on medical informatics and bioinformatics fields. People in the incubator will have access to NVIDIA GPU hardware and software, and NVIDIA parallel programming experts and resources, including educational webinars and an array of teaching materials.

Trainees also receive access to free GPU programming training at nvidia.qwiklab.com. The comprehensive, self-paced training spans introductory to expert level coursework on a range of GPU programming languages, applications, libraries, programming models and tools. Moreover, students will learn different computer programming languages that are needed in the medical informatics, bioinformatics, and other fields.
